The Lanmi sub-brand is expected to take on Oppo and Vivo in China.
Last week, Xiaomi revealed that its new brand will be called Lanmi. Back then, rumors suggested that the first smartphone to launch under this brand will be called Xiaomi X1. But new reports seem to suggest that a new phone which goes by the name Xiaomi 5X, will be the first smartphone to launch under this brand.
The report was first spotted by goandroid, via a leaked poster. The poster reveals some specifications of the upcoming smartphone. According to the poster, the Xiaomi X5 will come with a dual camera setup. The price of the device is expected to be 1,999 yuan (approximately Rs 19,000).
Apart from that, the poster reveals that the Xiaomi 5X will be coming with a 5.5-inch display. Reports from the past suggest that it will probably support full HD resolution. Additionally, the smartphone is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM.
While the poster doesn’t really reveal much in terms of the design of the smartphone, rumors in the past suggest that the Xiaomi 5X is expected to feature a thin metallic body. Apart from that, the dual camera setup is expected to come with 5x optical zoom support. The smartphone is likely to launch in gold and black color variants. Last week, a mysterious photo of a Xiaomi phone surfaced online. It featured a dual rear camera along with a dual-tone dual-LED flash on the top left-hand side. The image also revealed antenna bands running on top and bottom of the device.
The image indicated the absence of a fingerprint sensor at the back and so, it’s highly likely that the smartphone will be equipped with a front- facing fingerprint scanner. This leaked smartphone in question is expected to be the Xiaomi 5X. However, there is no confirmation on the same and so we would suggest you take this information with a pinch of salt. Having said that the Xiaomi X5 smartphone will fall under Lanmi brand, the smartphone will cater to the offline market in China. The new Lanmi brand is said to be different from the current Xiaomi Redmi series.
The main aim of the brand will be to focus on the offline market and give tough competition to Vivo and Oppo, which have a strong offline presence in China. As of India, there is no information whether the Lanmi brand will launch in India anytime soon. In India, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi Max 2 phablet at an event in New Delhi on July 18.
