Just below Airtel, Reliance Jio has been ranked the ninth most influential brand in the country.
With trade and commerce being the heart of the Indian economy, brands and their impact on the people of the country hold immense importance. A research firm Ipsos, recently conducted over 36,000 interviews of 1000 Indians, who were using more than 100 brands. The firm has now released a list of the top influential brands in India, and the results, if not shocking, are quite surprising. Sitting right at the top of the most influential brands is Google, which is followed by Microsoft and Facebook.
By the way, in a reverse perspective, India recently became Facebook’s largest country audience, overtaking the user base of the United States. As on July 13, Facebook reported a “potential audience” of 241 million active users in India, compared to 240 million in the US. Coming back to the most influential brands, while Google and Facebook have been on the top of this list for a while now, what’s really surprising is that, at number four stands the home-grown FMCG company Patanjali. This is also Patanjali’s debut into a high profile ranking. Till last year, Patanjali did not even make it to the top 10 list. Patanjali is followed by State Bank of India on number five.
Another surprise is Amazon India overtaking Flipkart’s influence in the country. While Amazon India ranks six in the list, Flipkart is now the tenth most influential brand in India. That’s actually become a big bridge. Although, it is interesting to note that, late last year, according to India’s Most Attractive Brands Study 2016, Amazon was ranked as the most attractive internet brand in the country ahead of rivals Flipkart and Snapdeal, as well as Google.
Further, on number seven sits South Korea’s Samsung, which has been a trusted brand in India for home appliances and smartphones for some years now.
And here comes the interesting bit, just the year old Reliance Jio has made it to the list of the most influential brands too. Though it ranks below its biggest rival Airtel in the list, ranking number 9 says something.
As for the brands that follow Flipkart on number 10, between eleventh and twentieth positions, there are companies like Snapdeal, Apple, Dettol, Cadbury, Sony, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Good day and Amul.
